The Misadventures of Harvey and Tugboat

Animated Short

"The Misadventures of Harvey and Tugboat" is an animated short written for a screenwriting class.

A Sad Day on La Grande Jatte

In-Class Exercise

"A Sad Day on La Grande Jatte" is based on the painting "A Sunday on La Grande Jette" (pictured below). We had to pick a person in the painting and give them a story. I chose the man circled in the painting below and the screenplay features his backstory.

Four Words or Less

In-Class Exercise

This exercise challenged the class to write a scene with two characters that only speak in four words or less. It stressed the importance of dialogue and had to feature a clear shift in the relationship.

Visual Portraits

In-Class Exercise

A visual portrait challenges the writer to establish a story with no characters present and no dialogue. Picture the opening credits of a film, it introduces some background information, but viewers have not met any characters yet.

Batter Up

Sketch Comedy

"Batter Up" is my (first) attempt at sketch comedy. It might not be perfect, but I found some humor in it and we've all got to start somewhere, right?
